A 31-year-old man from Greensboro was arrested Monday by Goldsboro police and charged with Friday's robbery of The Little Bank downtown.
Brian Jermaine Smith was charged with common-law robbery, a holdup without the use of a weapon. The robber had approached a teller at about 9:25 a.m. with his hand in his pocket and a note demanding money.
Several people identified Smith, a former Goldsboro resident, after a photograph of the holdup was published in Sunday's News-Argus. He surrendered to police Monday morning.
Smith was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $35,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for today to determine his legal representation.
A police official said today that he did not know how much money was stolen.
