Wanted man
Goldsboro police have issued warrants for the arrest of Cedric Levern Smalls of West Chestnut Street in connection with a shooting early Saturday.
Police received a call that a shooting occurred at 120 Vanderbilt Circle in Westhaven Housing area at 1:15 a.m. Saturday. Rashid Tarif Adham Taymullah of 201 N. George Street was found suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest.
He was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital by ambulance.
Smalls is being sought on one count each of attempted first degree murder and first degree burglary.
Anyone with information about Smalls' whereabouts is asked to call Inv. Dwayne Dean at 580-4211 or Crimestoppers at 735-2255.
Potty break
Charges may be pending to three youths detained by police near portable toilets on the Family Y property on Parkway Drive.
Goldsboro police received a call about a vehicle trespassing on the soccer field near Parkway Drive. Officers observed a vehicle going in circles and hitting a portable toilet next to the parking area. Police attempted to stop the vehicle before it struck again.
Three subjects were in the vehicle, two 16-year-olds and the 17-year-old driver.
Parks Portable Toilets was notified by police to determine whether charges would be filed.
Recovered weapons
Police recovered two guns after responding to a complaint about weapons being fired at an address in the 800 block of East Walnut Street at 12:49 a.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, police reportedly heard shots fired and attempted to apprehend the shooters. A .45 caliber handgun and a rifle were dropped by the subjects, who fled from the area.
Strong-arm robbery
A 61-year-old Dudley man told police he was robbed by two young men while walking near his home Thursday night.
John Edsel Rhodes of Mobile Circle Drive said the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. The two men asked if he wanted to buy drugs and when he declined, assaulted him and took his keys and $40.
Rhodes refused medical attention at the scene.
Assault on female
Eddie Rashad Vann, 20, Windsor Drive, was charged with multiple offenses after a Princeton woman complained that he assaulted her.
Patricia Denise Currie, 25, told police the two had argued and when she tried to exit their vehicle, Vann slapped her across the face. She alleged he also grabbed her by the hair, attempted to pull her back into the vehicle, and took her keys. Vann is also accused of kicking her vehicle, knocking over a coffee table at her home, and attempting to choke her.
He was held under $2,000 bond on charges of simple assault, two counts of injury to personal property, harassing phone calls, assault on female, communicating threats, attempting breaking and entering to a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.
Burglary charge
As a result of an investigation by the Wayne County sheriff's office, Randall Scott Worley, 35, Kelway Drive, was arrested on charges of second-degree burglary and felony larceny. He was held on $50,000 secured bond.
He was arrested in connection with a burglary reported Dec. 23. Investigation revealed he was involved. Some property was recovered and returned to the owner.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating a report of a break-in at White Tail Landing, U.S. 117 South, that occurred sometime Friday.
Raymond Anderson told deputies he found a glass door in the business broken out to gain entry, and said lines to a telephone junction box had been cut, which disabled the alarm system. The amount of money taken from the machines was undetermined.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Anna Raynor, an employee of Bojangles, told police $2,903 in a deposit bag and $383 in currency were missing from a safe found unsecured around 3:35 a.m. Saturday.
*Neko Curtis of North Jefferson Avenue told police that between Dec. 22 and 31, someone had entered a residence after removing a window screen. He said it appeared that the intruder had slept at the residence several days and used drugs. An $1,831 TV and theatre system were also taken.
*At Korean Presbyterian Church, Piedmont Airline Road, four lights in the parking lot had been knocked out. The complainant said this was the second time it had happened, but the first reported to police.
*Jeff Hamlett of Horne Moving Systems on Sherman Street told police the windshields of three moving trucks had been broken by large rocks parked at the business. He estimated the damages at $250.
Accidents
Four drivers involved in city accidents on Friday were charged by police.
*Marc Lutcavage, 23, Brookwood Lane, was charged with a safe movement violation after a two-car accident on Spence Avenue at 11:38 a.m. Friday.
He reportedly stopped at a stop sign, proceeded across Spence and failed to see another car, driven by Marvin Dwaine Holcomb, 45, N. 581, Pikeville. Damage was estimated at $800 to Lutcavage's car and $500 to Holcomb's.
*Both drivers involved in a 7 p.m. accident Friday on Ash Street were charged with violations.
Willie George Grace, 58, N. Herman Street, was cited for failure to see before starting after colliding with a vehicle driven by Jessie Lee Long, 51, Oakridge Circle, Dudley. Ms. Long, who told police she had just purchased her vehicle that day and not yet transferred information to the DMV, was charged with having a fictitious registration. Each car received an estimated $300 in damages.
*At 4:08 p.m.. Friday, Tamika Michelle Evans, 15, N. Audubon Avenue, was traveling on Ash Street when a vehicle ahead slowed in traffic. Unable to stop, Ms. Evans collided in the rear of a vehicle driven by Shawn Paul Sandiford, 24, Rudolph Street, and was charged with an unsafe movement violation. Damage to Ms. Evans' vehicle was $2,000, and Sandiford's car received $3,000 in damage.
