Teen charged
with break-in
A Goldsboro teen-ager was arrested Thursday by Goldsboro police and charged with two felony charges and a misdemeanor in two recent thefts.
Jamarcus Donte Lennox, 17, of Edgerton Street was charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny and misdemeanor larceny. He also was held on an outstanding arrest warrant for possession of stolen goods.
Lennox was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,500 secured bond.
Lennox was accused of stealing property from Jerome Barnes of Holly Street and Michael McMillan of East Beech Street, police said.
Barnes reported that a video-game system, a car radio, an amplifier, a video camera and $300 were stolen Thursday after someone had smashed three windows and damaged a DVD player. The property was valued at $1,225. Damages were put at $300.
Barnes said he found three men inside his home as he returned at about 11 a.m. and they fled. Evidence was recovered, police said. Lennox also was charged with stealing a pair of boots from McMillan.
Man robbed
at nightclub
A man drove into a nightclub parking lot before dawn today and before he could leave, four men stole his wallet with $85 and his keys, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Ian Harper, 40, of Goldsboro told officers that he drove into the Teasers parking lot at 2106 U.S. 117 South at about 12:30 a.m. As he backed up, the robbers ran to his car, displayed a handgun and demanded his money, the report said.
They grabbed the property and fled north along the railroad tracks, the report said.
The robbers were described as young black men wearing baggy clothing. One had dreadlocks and another was bald.
House fire
PIKEVILLE -- A neighbor's call helped Pikeville firefighters prevent a bedroom fire from spreading through a home in the 200 block of Booker Street.
The neighbor spotted the fire Monday and called 911.
"The fire had been smoldering for some time before it was seen coming through the eaves and the attic," said Assistant Pikeville Fire Chief Richard Lewis. "Then the neighbor called it in."
One of the first volunteers to arrive was Nahunta Fire Chief Jay Howell.
"He really helped us knock down the fire," Lewis said.
Pikeville firefighters were assisted Monday by Fremont volunteers in answering the 5:15 p.m. alarm. Some remained for about an hour and a half to put out the fire, investigate the cause and complete salvage work.
Lewis said the resident, Nece Sutton, had walked away from the fire. He asked Pikeville police to find her and bring her back. Neither she nor any firefighters were injured.
Lewis said the fire started on the floor of the secured house. He said the fire was not caused by an electrical problem but probably was an accident.
Damage was limited to $5,000, mostly to contents, Lewis said.
"The house wasn't messed up," he said, "but it was smoked up tremendously."
Construction theft
A 49-year-old man was arrested Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with multiple offenses in the larceny of painting equipment.
William Jackson Neal Jr. of Robin Place was charged with three felonies -- breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods -- and two misdemeanors -- larceny and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
The arresting officers, Detective Sgts. Shawn Harris and Mike Kabler, said Neal was accused of stealing the property from homes under construction in northern Wayne County. Some property has been recovered.
Car stolen
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A man left his unlocked car running this morning and before he got inside Wal-Mart, he saw someone driving it away, police said. Troy Alexander of Mount Olive put a $20,000 value on his beige, four-door 2003 Mitsubishi Galant.
*A compact disc player, an amplifier, speakers, a television, a coat and a sweater were stolen before dawn today after a vehicle window was smashed in the 100 block of Ivey Court, police said. The owner, Byron Ray Artis of Fremont, estimated the value of his missing property at $845 and damage at $150.
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A stainless-steel Sears stove, a Sears dishwasher and two space heaters were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from a home in the 3400 block of N.C. 55 East, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, D.S. Thomas, put a $4,980 value on the stolen property. No sign of forced entry was reported.
*An 26-foot orange and white 1989 International U-Haul truck was stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from Down East Travel Center on U.S. 117 South, deputies said. The truck was valued at $10,000.
Driver injured
One driver was injured and damages were estimated at $12,000 Thursday in two traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A driver was injured in a car-truck collision at 4:26 p.m. Thursday at North Berkeley Boulevard and Parkway Drive, police said. Amanda Sue Thigpen, 17, of Nahunta Road, Pikeville, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Ms. Thigpen also was charged with a yield violation. Police said she had pulled from Parkway Drive and the car that she was driving collided with a southbound pickup driven by Guy Berry Smith, 50, of Race Track Road, LaGrange. Damages were set at $3,000.
*Damages were estimated at $9,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 4 p.m. Thursday on East Ash Street near North Spence Avenue, police said. One motorist, Javier Cruz Dominguez, 28, of O'Berry Road, Dudley, was charged with a yield violation. The report said Dominguez was making a left turn and his car collided with an oncoming, westbound sport utility vehicle driven by Salvador Aldivar Rodrigues, 29, of Old Mount Olive Road, Mount Olive.
Four-vehicle crash
A driver from Raleigh was injured Tuesday in a four-vehicle collision at U.S. 70 and Claridge Nursery Road, a Highway Patrol report said.
Faburama Saul Sambou, 35, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. He was charged with a safe-movement violation.
Sambou had tried to shift from the right to the left lane directly in front of a rental truck, driven by Brian Eugene Davis, 23, of Overman Road, the report said. Davis could not stop in time and the truck collided with the rear of Sambou's car, pushing it into a sport utility vehicle that was stopped for the traffic light.
The SUV, driven by Carolina P. Bell, 27, of Overbrook Road, then was pushed into the rear of another stopped car, driven by Adam Jacob Commissaris, 23, of Westover Road. Damages totaled an estimated $12,000 to the four vehicles.
Drug charges
A 30-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Thursday by police and charged with three felony drug offenses.
David Stephoven McCormick of West Grantham Street was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sale and delivery of cocaine and conspiracy. He also was charged with misdemeanor larceny. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,200 secured bond.
Missing
A 13-year-old Goldsboro girl was reported missing before dawn today by relatives to police. Ryanne Renee Dunford of 405 A St. was described 5-feet-4 and 140 pounds with brown hair and green eyes.
She was seen last at 9:30 p.m. Thursday. No clothing description was available. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call police at 705-6527.
