Phyllis Gurley of Goldsboro has been chosen to be the chairman of the Consumer and Family Advisory Committee for Eastpointe mental health agency, effective Jan. 1.

Mrs. Gurley will lead the committee's monthly meetings, which give a forum for people who use Eastpointe's services and for their relatives.

She will also attend Eastpointe board meetings as a representative of clients and their families. She will be asked to make regular reports.

Other committee officers are Vice Chairman Paul Boykin of Sampson County, Secretary Ann Tyndall of Sampson County, and Treasurer Susan Mikitka of Duplin County.

Eastpointe was required to form the committee to provide feedback on the state's ongoing changes to its mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services.
