Empty Stocking Fund can meet your gift-giving needs

Having trouble finding a Christmas gift for that person on your list who has everything?

Want to remember someone who made Christmases past special?

Need to recognize someone who helped make 2004 a good year for you?

A gift to the Empty Stocking Fund will meet those needs, and help a less-fortunate child, too.

The contribution will be acknowledged in the newspaper and posted on its web site.

Caring employees of the News-Argus, members of the Goldsboro Woman's Club and Continental Society, and other volunteers from the community give generously of their time so there are no ESF administrative costs -- all of the money goes for gifts and treats for the children.

This year the goal is $33,000, enough to provide Christmas cheer for 610 children at the annual party next Saturday.

The half-way mark has been passed, but the charity is still $15,663 short of its goal.

Give the perfect gift today -- make a check out to the Empty Stocking Fund and mail it to the News-Argus, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, N.C., 27532; or bring it to the newspaper office at 310 N. Berkeley Boulevard.
