Empty Stocking update

Invitations to the Empty Stocking Fund party were mailed on Monday.
Parents and guardians of 610 children will be asked to accompany them to United Artists Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 18, for a morning of ageless Christmas magic.
Santa will be there to greet the children and help pass out gifts of toys, clothes and stockings filled with treats.
Volunteers from Goldsboro Woman's Club and the Continental Society will get the refreshments, arrange the entertainment and make sure each child has a gift-wrapped box with his name on it. Inside will be a new outfit, chosen especially for that girl or boy.
Each child will get to choose a new toy and take home a stocking filled with treats.
These will be the only presents some of the children receive this Christmas.
The fund is still $18,403 short of the $33,000 that is needed to pay for the gifts and treats.
Donations may be mailed to the News-Argus, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, 27532; or brought to the newspaper office at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd. on Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
