Governor's School nominees

Wayne County public schools have announced 24 student nominees for the 2005 Governor's School.
The Governor's School of North Carolina is the oldest statewide summer residential program for intellectually gifted high school students in the nation.
The program is open to rising seniors in the academic areas of English, foreign languages, mathematics, and natural and social sciences. The performing and visual arts area includes art, choral and instrumental music, dance and drama. Rising juniors may apply in the area of performing and visual arts.
Applicants will be notified in the spring of their selection to attend the school in Raleigh.
At Charles B. Aycock High School, academic nominees are Jesse M. Fryt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Fryt, Goldsboro; Richard B. Strauss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Strauss, Fremont; Casey Sutton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Sutton, Pikeville; Alan Toler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randy Toler, Pikeville; and Thomas C. Williamson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Williamson, Fremont.
Representing the school in the performing and visual arts area are Steven P. Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Jackson, and Kate Nichols, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Nichols, Pikeville.
Eastern Wayne High School student nominees in academics are Mary Ann Garris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Garris, LaGrange; Jessica K. Klinkicht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Klinkicht; Christina McMillan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis Simmons; and Christopher Summerlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Summerlin, all of Goldsboro.
Applicants in the performing and visual arts are Rebecca R. Kiefer, daughter of Ms. Michelle Kiefer, and Amy L. Jackson, daughter of Ms. Karla Banks, both of Goldsboro.
Condra Fleming, daughter of Ira L. Fleming of Goldsboro, is Goldsboro High School's applicant in the academics area.
Southern Wayne High School's nominees in academics are Jameson Casey Best, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Douglas Best, Mount Olive; Christopher J. Baldwin, son of Frances Young, Dudley; Nicole R. Joyner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Joyner, Goldsboro; William S. Sills, son of Lisa Sills, Mount Olive; and Kathryn J. Westfall, daughter of Nancy H. Westfall, Dudley.
In performing and visual arts, applicants are Katie E. Savage, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Savage, Mount Olive; and Elizabeth A. Lloyd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Lloyd, and Reynold D. Meraz, son of Cathy Stilly, both of Dudley.
Justin W. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Smith, Seven Springs, and Thomas Swedenburg, son of Dr. and Mrs. Mark Swedenburg, Goldsboro, are representing Spring Creek High School in the performing and visual arts area.
