Inmate charged
Lacy Donnell Price, 25, of East Walnut Street was charged Friday with breaking, entering and larceny and shoplifting by Goldsboro police Investigator Neal Lynch.
The charge stemmed from an investigation into a residential break-in that occurred in December 2003 on the 400 block of North Hillcrest Drive.
Lynch said Price had been an inmate in the Department of Corrections since January 2004 for a burglary conviction.
Price was placed under $16,500 bond, pending a first appearance in court, after which he will be released back to the Department of Correct-ions.
Drug arrest
The Goldsboro Wayne County Drug Squad searched a residence on Lime Street and charged Kristopher Douglas Battle, 25, with possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana. Bond was set at $5,000. Crime Stoppers assisted in the investigation.
Robbery
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has charged Curtis Alando Washington, 19, of Snow Hill with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and felony larceny.
Investigators said that on July 29, 2003, a business on U.S. 70 East reported an armed robbery, where two men took money from the business and from one of the customers.
On Sept. 11, 2003, investigators charged another suspect, Marcus Devon Bryant, with robbery with a dangerous weapon, second-degree kidnapping and felony larceny. He has been placed under $50,000 bond.
Investigations
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating the following crimes:
*Somebody took $1,975 worth of merchandise from Stereo City at 1907 N. William St., including an Indas monitor, three 12-inch subwoofer speakers, four Microvision screens, three DVD players, a car amplifier, a stereo box and a cassette player.
*Someone used a Lowe's Home Improvement Store card owned by Larue Rogers Tart's to charge $935 worth of merchandise. Ms. Tart, who lives on King Road, told police Friday that the card was used at the Lowe's store at 1202 N. Berkeley Blvd.
*Eleanor Baughs of Hines Drive said someone took $800 in cash from under her kitchen table. Police found no sign of forced entry.
*Police are investigating the larceny of a dark green 1997 Chevrolet Venture van valued at $6,000. It was unlocked. Amy Davis of North Jefferson Avenue said it was taken while she was warming it up in the parking lot of her home.
*Someone kicked in the back door to property on Franklin Street and took two mattresses and a refrigerator. The owner, Jackie Johnson of New jersey, said the damage to the door came to $100.
*Robert Herring of Park Avenue told police someone entered his locked 1990 Jeep Cherokee SUV and took his wallet and credit cards and license.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating the following crimes:
*Somebody removed the fence gate from the landfill at 460-B South Landfill Road, Dudley, and then drove on the dunes in some type of a recreation vehicle. It happened between 5 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday. Damage to the gate was $300. The report said it's an ongoing problem with unauthorized people going on the property.
*Cindy Jo Alnobani of Allegheny Place, Dudley, told investigators Friday that she returned home to find that, some time between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, someone had kicked open her front door. She said nothing appeared to be missing.
*James Dustin Grady of Beautancus Road, Mount Olive, said he was robbed of $225 cash at gunpoint. He told investigators someone he knows asked him on Nov. 26 to meet him at the mall to buy some marijuana and drive him home. He said he met the man near the Penny's parking lot. Two other men were with the other man. They were in a small black car. The man who had called Grady got into his car with him, and they left the mall. Grady said he was told to pull over on Southern Plaza Drive off Old Mount Olive Highway so the other man could weigh the marijuana. The man told him to show him the money. When he did, he said, the man put a gun to his face and took his money. He said the man left in the black car that he had seen at the mall.
*Kay Farfour of Park Avenue told investigators someone broke into a house she owns on Carolina Circle, did $250 damage to the back door and took a couch, love seat and chair valued at $320.
