The vice president of Jackson & Sons Heating & Air Conditioning, Lyman Smith, said the company is a family-oriented business that cares about the community.

That care translated into a $3,000 donation to the Empty Stocking Fund on Friday.

The company's contribution will fill stockings for 56 children as well as provide a nice toy and a new outfit of clothes for each child.

Other caring companies, individuals, churches and civic groups have given enough to take care of 184 children. That leaves 370 children who need donations for their treats and presents.

The gifts will be given to the children at the annual E.S.F. party on Dec. 18.

Contributions may be sent to the News-Argus, P.O. Box 10629, Goldsboro, N.C. 27532; or brought to the newspaper office at 310 N. Berkeley Blvd.
