Linda Murphy and Joyce Minchew of Wallace are the latest members to join the Mount Olive College Foundation Board.
The foundation, which was formed this year, raises money for Mount Olive College.
The board currently has 11 members, including Robert L. "Bob" Tillman, CEO of Lowe's Companies Inc.; Bob Greczyn, CEO of BlueCoss BlueShield of NC; Bill Bryan, president of Mt. Olive Pickle Co.; Buddy Pope, CEO of E. J. Pope & Son; Lois Britt, special assistant to the president of Murphy-Brown, LLC; Darrell Horne, CEO of Horne Storage Co. and chairman of the college's board of trustees; and George Kornegay, president of The Kornegay Company LLC.
Kornegay also serves as president of the board whose purpose is to find alternate sources of funding and equipment for a variety of programs and projects addressing the needs of Mount Olive College.
The directors are expected to play a critical role in providing Mount Olive College access to key philanthropic, corporate, civic and governmental decision-makers, while serving as ambassadors to further the mission of the college.
Ms. Minchew, a retired educator and the daughter of Holmes and Lois Murphy for which the Mount Olive College Lois K. Murphy Regional Center is named, felt it was a natural progression to become involved with the MOC Foundation.
"It has been wonderful to see Mount Olive College grow literally in our own back yard," she said. "The college offers outstanding educational opportunities and is truly a jewel in eastern North Carolina."
Ms. Murphy shared Ms. Minchew's appreciation for the college.
"Mount Olive College has been so important for the Free Will Baptist denomination," she said.
Ms. Murphy is married to the Wendell Murphy, a member of the college's board of trustees since 1994. She is a retired high school math teacher, who taught at Hobbton High School for 14 years. She attends Rose Hill Baptist Church, where she has served as the choir director for the past 25 years. She has four children and eight grandchildren.
