Living history
Bentonville Battlefield will present a free living history program on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Visitors can take part in an 1860s-style Christmas by stringing popcorn and cranberries, cutting out paper ornaments and helping costumed volunteers decorate the Christmas tree outside. Civil War era military demonstrations will be held outside to offer insight into the life of the common North Carolina soldier.

Parade day
Saturday is parade day in the Wayne County area, with four processions planned:
*Mount Olive at 10 a.m.
*Fremont at 1 p.m.
*Princeton at 1 p.m.
*Goldsboro at 4 p.m.
Pet photographs
The Wayne County Humane Society will have its Annual Holiday Pet Photo on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Pet Supplies Plus.
A framed 4x6 photograph costs $10.
The Humane Society will sell gifts at the Berkeley Mall on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. There will be calendars, homemade cat and dog treats and other items.
