Officer promoted

Dwayne Bevell, a Goldsboro police officer, has been promoted to corporal, Chief Tim Bell announced Wednesday.
Bevell joined the department on Aug. 8, 1998. He and his wife attend Providence United Methodist Church.
Bevell also has received the advanced certificate by the N.C. Criminal Justice and Standards Commission after completing a combination of professional training and education and meeting the minimum service requirements.
The commission establishes minimum employment and training standards and instructor standards for all law-enforcement officers, except sheriff's deputies, in the state.
