Duplin has full EMS staff

KENANSVILLE -- Duplin Emergency Medical Services Director Curtis Brock has hired the rest of the employees needed to provide countywide emergency medical service.
The county has 34 paramedics, 17 EMTs at intermediate level and four basic EMTs.
"We have our staff in place now to cover the entire county 24 hours a day 7 days a week with paid EMT-I units," Brock said.
The county has three stations operating now, and three new sites, at Beulaville, Chinquapin and Pleasant Grove, will begin Nov. 30.
The county is functioning at the EMT intermediate level now, with the paramedic level as the ultimate goal.
Four of the EMTs are in paramedic training.
Brock was instructed by the Duplin County commissioners to establish six EMS stations and to progress to the paramedic level as soon as possible.
"The staff I have is second to none," said Brock. "They worked long and hard to make this happen. This could not have happened without teamwork."
