Sirens on base
Residents and others near Seymour Johnson Air Force Base have been hearing lots of noise.
But it's nothing to be alarmed about. The base is conducting training exercises, said 1st Lt. Tana Stevenson with the base's public affairs office.
The exercises will last through Thursday. Anyone with questions can call the public affairs office at 722-0027.
Fair share finalist
David Cowley, an employee with Waukesha Electric, is the 11th and last finalist in United Way's Fair Share Challenge.
He along with 10 others who gave "fair share" to United Way will get a chance to win a new truck from Goldsboro Chrysler Dodge Jeep.
On Saturday each of the 11 finalists will pick a key at the dealership in the order that they qualified. The finalist whose key starts the truck will win.
Lane twins on TV
Gary and Larry Lane of Goldsboro will appear in "The Apprentice Part 2" on Thursday on NBC.
On that episode, the two competing teams are assigned to create the 2004 Fall Levis Jean campaign. One team decides to use identical twins, including the Lanes.
The twins will also begin filming "Ultimate Twin Fear Factor" in December. Featured will be the winning twins from the past four seasons. Larry won during Season 2.
UPN and FX will re-run that episode today.
The "Ultimate Twin Fear Factor" is expected to air early in the new year.

Toys for Tots
Wayne County has been added this year to the Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots campaign.
Drop-off sites are at Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Kmart, Big Lots, KB Toys, Fun Products, Shelton Harley-Davidson, BB&T on Berkeley Boulevard and at the Roses store in Mount Olive.
Organizers Connie and James Lashmet of Warsaw say more drop-off sites are welcome. They can be reached at 910-284-0524.
"We accept toys and monetary donations," Mrs. Lashmet said. "All of the money goes to purchase toys."
The local campaign also welcomes volunteers who want to help take the toys from storage to the distribution points.
The national organization has more than 250 campaigns going on throughout the United States this Christmas season. The Web address is www.toysfortots.org.
