Drug charges
A 12th person sought in a two-month undercover drug campaign was arrested Tuesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad.
Valerie May Hinnant, 32, of Pou Street was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine, sale cocaine and conspiracy. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
Authorities have charged 13 more people who have not been apprehended.
Six hurt in wreck
Six people were injured and both cars were demolished in a collision Tuesday at Central Heights Road and Faith Place, a Goldsboro police report said.
Both drivers -- Laytoya Teshay Daniels, 20, of Faith Place and Maria Murchison, 31, of New Hope Road, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Four of Ms. Murchison's six passengers -- Tammy Rowe, 40, Bobby Ray Barnes Jr., 5, Dontay Shonta Barnes, 2, and Tyronica Denise Barnes, 13 months -- also were released after emergency-room treatment.
Ms. Daniels was charged with a safe-movement violation. Police said she had pulled from Faith Place and her car collided with Ms. Murchison's southbound auto. The cars were valued at $4,000 each.
Ms. Murchison also was charged with driving while her license was revoked, an overcrowded vehicle and child-restraint violations.
In other collisions:
*Two people were injured in a one-car wreck at 12:05 a.m. Saturday on New Hope Road near Gray Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Linda Best Bass, 51, and a passenger, Tiffani Bass, 12, both of South Marion Drive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Bass was charged with driving left of center. Damage was set at $1,500 to the car.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 4 p.m. Saturday on Carmack Road near N.C. 111, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Pedro Juan Ortiz-Lopez, 32, of N.C. 111 South, Seven Springs, was charged with reckless driving after the car ran off the right side, struck a ditch and overturned. The car was valued at $7,000.
*Four people were injured in a car-truck collision at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at N.C. 55 and N.C. 111, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Gloria Ema Acero Ornelas, 22, and a passenger, Paola Acero, 17, both of Beulaville, and two passengers in the other vehicle, Emily Remines and Brittany Remines, both 7 and both of N.C. 55 East, Seven Springs, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Ornelas was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign after the northbound car that she was driving collided with a westbound truck driven by Robert Doyle Remines Jr., 31, of N.C. 55 East, Seven Springs. Damages were put at $4,000.
Baby unresponsive
Police answered a 911 call Aug. 8 to a home in the 400 block of East Spruce Street, where a woman was asking for help for an infant.
The baby was unresponsive in a bathtub.
The infant was rushed to Wayne Memorial Hospital, then treated and released, Investigator Paige Learnard said.
After an investigation, Tamela Marie Faison of Hugh Street was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Her secured bond was set at $400. Her first court appearance was scheduled for Nov. 29.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A stove and a refrigerator were stolen between Thursday and Tuesday from a rental home in the 100 block of South Running Deer Circle, sheriff's deputies said. The owner, John C. Anderson of Faison, also reported damage to carpet, a vinyl floor and window blinds and said a dog and her puppies were left inside without food and water. The stolen property was valued at $800. Damage was set at $3,000.
*About 90 vintage country music compact discs and a combination CD player and radio with speaker were stolen between Monday and Tuesday from a shop in the 200 block of Pinkney Church Road, deputies said. The thief had damaged a door to get inside, the report said. The resident, Milton Goff Jr., estimated the value of his missing property at $2,600 and damage at $50.
*A DVD player and a videotape were stolen Tuesday after a door was damaged at a home in the 5400 block of N.C. 111 South, deputies said. A laptop computer also was damaged. The resident, Raymond Antonio Mewborn, estimated the value of the stolen property at $270 and damage at $600.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A thief threw a beer bottle through a truck window Tuesday in the 300 block of North Spence Avenue and stole baby clothes in a bag and a man's clothes in a book bag, police said. The stolen property, owned by Robert Gonzalez of Goldsboro, was valued at $368. Damage to the car, owned by Raul Gonzalez of Goldsboro, was put at $125.
*A woman returned home Tuesday night and saw a man running from her home in the 1000 block of East Walnut Street, police said. Sylvia Mickens reported that the man had stolen a gold necklace, worth $40, after inflicting about $10 in damages to a door.
*A woman let a man in her home Tuesday morning on Workman Street to use her phone, and later roofers asked her to move her car, police said. She said her vehicle key was missing and then went outside and found her vehicle missing. Shaquana Green said her green, four-door 1996 Ford Explorer was valued at $5,000.
*A green, four-door 1996 Dodge Intrepid was stolen between Monday and Tuesday from the 400 block of West Vine Street, police said. The owner and resident, Sherida Hardy, put a $5,000 value on her auto.
