Two men held up at gunpoint
Two men were robbed in separate weekend holdups, according to Goldsboro police reports.
Elwood Bryant, 51, told police that a man came to his home on Central Heights Road at about 9 p.m. Sunday and said his car had broken down. When Bryant opened the door farther, the man displayed a handgun, and two other armed men rushed to the door. All three men barged into his home, forced him to the floor and put a rug over his head, the report said.
They stole $800, a DVD player, a cable box and a billfold. The other property was valued at $110. The intruders could not be described.
The second victim. Mark A. Easton, 48, reported that a man knocked on his door at Days Inn at 2000 Wayne Memorial Drive at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. The intruder put a gun to Easton's head and demanded money, police said. Easton said he had none, but the robber took $700 and a cell phone and fled.
The robber was described as being black, 5-feet-10 and 200 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes.
Two hurt in wrecks
Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $16,800 in three weekend traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a pickup truck at 5:50 p.m. Sunday at North Berkeley Boulevard and Mall Road, police said. Justin Jenkins, 20, of Eddington Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. The other driver, George Cruz Rodriguez, 18, of Sunny South Street, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Damages were put at $1,800. Police said Rodriguez was leaving a parking lot and his pickup collided with Jenkins' northbound motorcycle.
*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 5:49 p.m. Sunday on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway near the North William Street overpass, police said. One driver, Tara Marie Lee, 36, of Rocky Mount, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash. The other motorist was identified as David Lynn Reberry of Wilmington.
*A driver from Pikeville was injured and damages were estimated at $10,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 8:59 a.m. Saturday at U.S. 117 North and Hooks River Road, police said. James Lloyd Grimes, 34, of Grand Street was released after emergency-room treatment. Grimes was charged with not having liability insurance. The other driver, Kathleen Anne House, 56, of Gurley Dairy Road, Pikeville, was charged with a yield violation. Ms. House's eastbound pickup collided with Grimes' northbound auto, the report said.
Car burned
A car was destroyed Friday night in a fire that has been turned over to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for a further investigation.
The car's owner, Franklin Roosevelt Coley of Stronach Avenue, told deputies that he had loaned the car to his nephew, Montrell Allen, on Friday. Allen told Coley that he had picked up several people at about 9:30 p.m., left them in the car when he went in a store and returned to find the car missing.
A resident found the burning car in his driveway in the 100 block of Nancy Drive. Mar Mac volunteer firefighters arrived and called for authorities. The 1986 Lincoln Town Car was valued at $2,500.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A DVD player, a stereo system and four video tapes were stolen Sunday after a window was pried open at a home in the 200 block of South Slocumb Street, police said. The resident, Tansey Howell, put a $275 value on the stolen property.
*A cell phone and small tools were stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a car window was smashed in the 800 block of East Beech Street, police said. The owner, Sheila T. Bishop of Dahlonega, Ga., estimated the value of her stolen property at $225 and damage at $150.
*Both rear quarter panels and the rear passenger door of a car were scratched Saturday in the 700 block of South Harding Drive, police said. The owner, Helen Middleton of Goldsboro, estimated damages at $1,500.
*A bank bag with $207 was stolen Sunday after a car window was shattered at the Pizza Inn parking lot at 707 Norwood Ave., police said. Damage was put at $150 to the car, owned by April D. McNair of Goldsboro. The cash belonged to the restaurant.
*A gray, four-door 1985 Mercury Gran Marquis was stolen Sunday from the 700 block of North Claiborne Street, police said. The owner and resident, Jerry Harris, said the unlocked car was worth $3,000.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A purse and a wallet were stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a car window was smashed in the 200 block of Mint Court, sheriff's deputies said. A resident, Melody J. Mitchell, put a $185 value on her stolen property. Damage to Joyce Mitchell's car was set at $500.
*A black 2001 Dodge Dakota with a sun visor over the front windshield was stolen between Friday and Saturday from the 1500 block of Indian Springs Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, Ceaser R. Anderson, said his pickup was worth $11,000.
*A purse with personal papers was stolen between Friday and Saturday after a vehicle window was broken in the 200 block of Camden Park Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Christy Enriquez, put a $100 value on her property and set damage at $300.
Missing
A 16-year-old Southern Wayne High School was reported missing Sunday to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Amanda Hernandez of 2168 Dobbersville Road, Mount Olive, was described as white, 5-feet-4 and 140 pounds with long black hair and brown eyes.
She was seen last at 6 p.m. Friday. No clothing description is available. She may be driving a blue 1992 Saturn. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
