Teen charged with robbing same bank twice

A 19-year-old convicted of robbing the New Century Bank in May was charged Wednesday with robbing it a second time.
Quentin Bryce Barnes was charged by Goldsboro police with taking part in the Oct. 22 robbery of the bank at 425 N. Spence Ave. He is the fifth teen to be charged in the crime, and police are seeking a sixth suspect.
Barnes was arrested at his home on North George Street by Investigator M.K. Horstmann. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond.
Barnes also was convicted of robbing the same bank in May. His photograph was taken from a surveillance camera in the bank, and it appeared in the News-Argus two days later. He was apprehended without incident the next day.
Barnes was charged with armed robbery. But he pleaded guilty to common-law robbery, a holdup without the use of a weapon. He could not post bond and served about four months in jail awaiting his trial. He was credited with time served and released from custody.
Goldsboro police are seeking a sixth person in connection with the latest robbery. Demetrius "Dee-Dee" Richard Hamm, 26, was charged with armed robbery.
Hamm was described as black, 6-feet-1 and 180 pounds with a tattoo of a dollar sign on his neck. His last-known address was on Level Street.
Anyone with information on Hamm's location was asked to call Investigator Horstmann at 580-4213 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
Earlier police arrested and charged four teens with the latest New Century Bank robbery. They are Leon Vinson Jr., 17, of South John Street; Octavius M. Broadhurst, 17, of Maple Street, and Melena Louise Hudgins, 18, of East New Hope Road.
