Nine people were arrested today by Wayne County authorities after a two-month undercover investigation of cocaine and marijuana trafficking. At least 16 more suspects were being sought.

Two brothers were arrested for the fourth time since July and the second time in a week. Another man was charged with 12 trafficking counts.

Antoine Silvers, 20, and Alajajwon Silvers, 17, both of North Berkeley Boulevard, were charged with selling cocaine. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.

Isaha Graham, 19, of East Holly Street was charged with 12 trafficking counts. He was jailed in lieu of a $800,000 secured bond.

Street-level and mid-level dealers in northwest Goldsboro were among those targeted, officers said.

The operation followed a six-month undercover campaign that ended with numerous arrests in September.

"We don't usually have them that close together," Police Chief Tim Bell said today. "But the drug officers, working together with the city and county, saw a problem. They came to us and wanted to use their resources. They took them, ran with them and did an excellent job."

Sheriff Carey Winders credited the teamwork of the two agencies for making the operation a success.

"It showed that we are working as a team in a combined effort to deter drug activity in the city and county," Winders said. "I commend them for working together and sharing information."

The sheriff added that law-enforcement agencies in some cities and counties do not work together.

The Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad directed the operation with assistance from sheriff's deputies and police. Officers met at about 6 a.m., divided the workload and fanned out across the county to find the suspects.

Others arrested and charged were:

*Luis Alejandro Hernandez, 17, Rachel Drive, trafficking in cocaine by possession, sale, delivery and transportation, $500,000 bond.
