Bikers, start
your engines!
The seventh annual HOG Toy Run will be held Saturday.
Motorcyclists who want to participate should take a toy and assemble at 11 a.m. at Shelton's Harley-Davidson at Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield. The ride will end at Shelton's Harley-Davidson of Goldsboro.
Even those who do not ride motorcycles may take a $5 unwrapped toy to Shelton's for the event. Everyone who donates a toy will receive a barbecue lunch.
United Way will distribute the toys to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Wayne County, Boy Scouts Tuscarora Council and Girls Scouts Coast of Carolina Council.

Cherry parade
Cherry Hospital will have its annual Christmas parade.
The event will be held Friday, Dec. 3, at 3:30 p.m. Line-up will begin at 3 p.m.

Edging toward
United Way goal
With only three weeks left in its 2004 campaign, United Way is only at 64 percent of its goal of $1,332,000.
The total amount raised is $854,306.
Donnie Barnes, campaign chairman, made the announcement at a campaign report meeting Wednesday.
"We have a lot to do in the next few weeks with over $477,694 needed to attain our goal of improving over 26,656 lives next year," Barnes said.
He recognized businesses that have recently completed their employee campaigns: BB&T, $10,400, a 2 percent increase; and BB&T Fremont, $1,840, a 10 percent increase.
