Price overtakes Keck, Kerr wins

Incumbent Atlas Price overtook Hal Keck in the last five precincts reporting Tuesday night after trailing the challenger through the first 80 percent of the vote count for the at-large seat on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners. With all 30 precincts reporting, Price owned a 18,977 to 18,819 lead. Provisional votes have not yet been counted.
In the other Commissioner races, with all 30 precincts counted, Efton Sager defeated Mark Hood, 4,105-2,909 in District 4; Bud Gray defeated Ed Wharton, 3,135-2,968 in District 5; and Jack Best defeated Roger Bedford, 4,000 to 3,230 in District 6.
Pete Gurley defeated Joe Hackett, 17,943 to 11,673 for the at-large seat on the Wayne County Board of Education.
Lois Mooring defeated Chris West, 20,210 to 17,770 for Wayne County Register of Deeds.
State Senator John Kerr defeated Tony Moore for the District 5 Senate seat. Kerr received 33,034 votes to 25,369 for Moore.
Stephen LaRoque defeated Lew Llewellyn in for the N.C. House District 10 seat, 14,302 to 10,551.
