Four Eastern Wayne Middle School students have qualified to be a part of the North Carolina Middle School Honors Chorus.
They are Sang Woo Kim, son of Hen and Jin Kim; Alden Pridgen, daughter of Rick and Allison Pridgen; Shelton Carter, son of William and Chris Carter; and Clark Poston, son of Keith and Michelle Poston.
The N.C. Middle School Honors Chorus is comprised of 200 students from across the state. More than 1,200 students auditioned to be part of the distinguished group. The Honors Chorus provides students an opportunity to work at a higher level than they currently are by collaborating with their peers from across the state.
Part of the students' success is due to the hard work and dedication of their teacher, Skip Morris, Lead Music and Choral Teacher for Wayne County public schools.
"It is an honor to have four students to be part of this outstanding event," Morris said. "The students have worked very hard. I'm proud and pleased."
The group from Eastern Wayne auditioned on September 30. They will travel to Winston-Salem on November 13 for a rehearsal with nationally known clinician Z. Randall Stroope. The students will then perform for the N.C. Music Educators Association on Nov. 14.
