Teen charged with robbing bank

A Goldsboro teen-ager was arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with last week's holdup of the New Century Bank.
Octavius M. Broadhurst, 17, of East Maple Street was charged with felony armed robbery. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $100,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for today to determine his legal representation.
Broadhurst was taken into custody by Sampson County sheriff's deputies while he was in court in Clinton on other matters. He was returned to Goldsboro by police Investigator Mike Horstmann and SBI Agent Doug Rambeault.
Police Sgt. David Kelly said the arrest resulted from leads developed through numerous interviews after the holdup, which occurred at about 1:30 p.m. at the bank at 425 N. Spence Ave.
The robber had displayed a handgun, demanded money, grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, the report said.
Another person, Melena Louise Hudgins, 18, of East New Hope Road, was arrested Friday and also charged with armed robbery. She was jailed in lieu of a $35,000 secured bond.
Kelly said today that more arrests are possible.
The same bank was robbed in May. One day after the suspect's photo appeared in the News-Argus, police arrested another teen for the crime. Quintin Barnes, 18, of Goldsboro pleaded guilty to a lesser offense and was released from custody for time served.
