Man charged
in store holdup
A store employee in the Little River Shopping Center was robbed Monday, and a man was arrested quickly by Goldsboro police and charged with the crime.
The clerk told police that a black man entered the Movie Gallery at 1318 W. Grantham St. at about 5:19 p.m. and displayed a note, demanding money.
Police officers arrived quickly, and a description of the suspect and his car were broadcast on law-enforcement radios. Officer Dan Snyder found the vehicle, stopped it and detained the driver who fit the description of the suspect.
Investigator Chad Calloway said clothing found in the vehicle and other investigative measures resulted in the arrest.
Talmadge Allen Hollamon, 25, of Nor-Am Road, Pikeville, was charged with armed robbery. He also was held on an outstanding arrest warrant for failure to appear in court. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $45,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was scheduled for today.
12 drug charges
A 19-year-old Goldsboro man has been arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad after a three-week undercover investigation and charged with 12 felony drug trafficking offenses.
Isaiah Graham of East Holly Street was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of an $800,000 secured bond. He was charged with three counts each of trafficking in cocaine by possession, by sale, by delivery and by transportation.
MO cop charged
A 29-year-old Mount Olive police officer was charged Monday with writing a worthless check.
John David Duncan III, who lives in Faison, was released from custody and ordered to return to court Nov. 19 in Mount Olive. The check was written to the Piggly Wiggly supermarket in Mount Olive.
Handgun at school
A Goldsboro teen-ager was arrested Monday by police and charged with felony possession of a .25 caliber firearm at Goldsboro High School.
Robert Ronquial Raiford, 16, of South Oleander Avenue was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Collisions
Damages were estimated at $69,250 in six recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A pickup was demolished in a wreck at 9:10 p.m. Sunday on Ada Stroud Road near Sanderson Road, the Highway Patrol said. The truck ran off the right side, came back on the road out of control, ran off the right side again and overturned into a tree. The driver fled. The report said the truck was registered to Daniel Lopez of Rones Chapel Road, Mount Olive. The pickup was valued at $5,000.
*Damages were estimated at $7,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 5:15 p.m. Saturday at Wayne Memorial Drive and New Hope Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, James Eli Murphy, 79, of East Walnut Street, was charged with a stoplight violation. The report said Murphy's southbound pickup collided with an eastbound sport utility vehicle, driven by Brett Stephen Puckett, 24, of Redwood Trail.
*Damages were put at $7,250 in a car-truck accident at 7 a.m. Friday at U.S. 13 and Saulston Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Robin T. Lancaster, 47, of True Vine Road, Pikeville, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end accident. The other driver, Robert Johnson Jr., 41, of Parkstown Road, LaGrange, was slowing to make a right turn.
*Damages were set $16,000 in a two-vehicle crash at 12:44 p.m. Friday at N.C. 111 and Antioch Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Francisco Javier Rivera-Martinez, 24, of Bennett's Bridge Road, Mount Olive, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. The report said his eastbound pickup collided with a northbound truck driven by Ronnie D. Smith, 34, of North Gold Drive.
*Damages were estimated at $19,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 9:45 p.m. Friday at U.S. 70 and Beston Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Tammy Teresa Robertson, 43, of Marlin Lane, Pikeville, was charged with driving while impaired and a yield violation after her SUV collided with another SUV on U.S. 70. The other motorist was identified as Bryan Christopher Rhodes, 28, of Water Oak Drive, LaGrange.
*A tractor-trailer ran off the right side of N.C. 581 near Hardy Talton Road at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, then struck a driveway culvert and a ditch and jackknifed, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Christopher J. Cwiakla, 27, of Buck Swamp Road, Pikeville, was charged with speeding. Damage was fixed at $15,000.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $235 in cash and collectible coins, a digital recorder and snack foods were stolen between Friday and Monday from classrooms and the cafeteria at Grantham School, sheriff's deputies said. A door was damaged during the break-in. The stolen property was valued at $360, including the money. Damage was set at $100.
*An out-building was stolen between Friday and Monday from the 2700 block of Nahunta Road, deputies said. The owner, Robert Walter Watson of Fremont, said the building was worth $5,800.
*A military-issue bulletproof vest was stolen between Saturday and Monday after a door was damaged at a home in the 300 block of Haywood Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Karen Bynum, who works at Fort Bragg, put a $510 value on the vest. Damage was set at $100.
*A dishwasher and a stove were stolen between Saturday and Monday after a window was smashed at a home in the 300 block of Durham Lake Road, deputies said. The owner, Speedy Williams, estimated the stolen property's value at $400 and damage at $100.
*A washer and an air conditioner were stolen and a car's windshield and tail lights were shot out Monday in the 200 block of Ann Street, deputies said. One resident, Steven Craig Smith, put a $500 value on the stolen property. Damage to the car, owned by another resident, Jesse Tolbert, was set at $350.
Break-ins
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Video-game equipment, a pair of tennis shoes and a DVD player were stolen between Saturday and Monday after a garage door was forced open at a home in the 200 block of Waters Circle, police said. The resident, Kyle Connell Dawkins, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,434, the report said. No damage estimate was listed.
*A diamond ring, a DVD-VCR combination, a television, a DVD player, a watch and two end tables were stolen Monday from an apartment in the 700 block of East Walnut Street, police said. The thief had kicked in a door to enter William Renno's home, police said. The missing property was valued at $1,625.
