Death seminar
Death and dying will be the subject of a seminar set for Tuesday, Nov. 9.
Beginning at 11:45 a.m. at the Wayne County public schools' central office, Pat Faulk McCarter of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home will speak at the "Lunch and Learn" event sponsored by the Mental Health Association in Wayne County.
The seminar is free and open to the public, and lunch will be provided. Reservations must be made by Thursday, Nov. 4, by calling 734-3530.
The schools' central office is at 2001 E. Royall Ave.
Dority to visit
Greg Dority, the Republican nominee in the 1st Congressional District, will meet the public at Wayne County Republican Party headquarters on Center Street at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Dority, of Washington, N.C., is challenging U.S. Rep. G.K. Butterfield of Wilson, the Democrat incumbent. About half of Wayne County is in the 1st District.
American-Chinese relations
The public is invited to a noontime lecture and discussion on "Sino-American Relations" on Thursday, Nov. 11, at Wayne Community College.
Dr. Louisa Kilgroe, adjunct professor of history at North Carolina State University, will lead the event from noon to 2 p.m. in Room 145 of the Dogwood Building. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunches and the college will provide beverages and cookies.

Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a Bloodmobile on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Eastern Wayne High School. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.
