Robbery attempt
A Wayne County business owner was assaulted Thursday night during an attempted robbery and his car was broken into, a Goldsboro police report said.
Ki Bong Kim, 51, told officers that the suspect put a box cutter to his throat and demanded money at about 6:55 p.m. at Kim's Beauty Supplies at 718 E. Ash St.
Kim then fought with the assailant who dropped the box cutter and fled east on Mulberry Street, police said. Kim was cut during the assault but declined medical treatment, police said. His glasses, valued at $500, also were broken.
Kim's vehicle also had been broken into and the interior lights had been disconnected, the report said.
The suspect was described as black, 6-feet and 200 pounds with short black hair and brown eyes.
Drug charges
Five men were arrested Thursday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad after a search of a home in the 700 block of Rudolph Street and charged with felony drug offenses.
*The resident, James Anthony Wynn, 30, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling cocaine and marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
*Ryan T. Shepard, 22, of Quail Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine. He was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
*Lamarr Jackson, 23, of Jacksonville was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
*Donovan Dorrelle Dewitt, 17, of North Pineview Avenue was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. His secured bond was set at $20,000.
*Deonte Marquel Artis, 17, of Quail Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. He was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
A sixth man, Johnny William King Jr., 19, of Denmark Street, was arrested Thursday night by Goldsboro police and charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Pedestrian injured
A pedestrian was injured and damages were estimated at $7,700 in two recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A woman jogger was struck by a car at 7 a.m. Wednesday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Woodcroft Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Karen Johnson, 47, of North Quail Croft Drive was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. She also was charged with being on the highway right-of-way. The driver, Lindsay Pate, 16, of Torhunta Drive, was not charged. But the car that she was driving sustained about $700 in damages.
*Damages were estimated at $7,000 in a two-car collision at 4:40 p.m. Oct. 12 at Old Mount Olive and Outlaw roads, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Richard Matthew Peacock, 36, of Barrier Place, Pikeville, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The report said he had started a left turn and his car collided with an oncoming, northbound auto driven by Woodrow Grandy Jr., 41, of Brogden Street, Dudley.
Jewelry, gun theft
An estimated $3,180 worth of jewelry, a handgun and a coin collection were stolen Thursday from a home in the 700 block of Sandhill Drive, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
The resident, Carlton Gene Kornegay, reported the theft of three watches, three men's rings, three women's rings, three pearl necklaces, cuff links and tie tacks. The coin collection was valued at $500, and the handgun was worth $250.
The thief damaged a door from the garage to get inside, the report said. Damage was estimated at $300.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*About $3,000 was reported missing between Wednesday and Thursday from the City Mission Thrift Store at 111 S. Center St., police said. The cash was supposed to have been deposited by an employee, the report said.
*About 600 compact discs, three CD cases, two pairs of sunglasses, a silver necklace and a charm were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from a vehicle in an apartment parking lot at 660 E. New Hope Road, police said. The owner and resident, Melissa D. Batton, estimated the value of the stolen property at $6,435.
