Break-in
A man broke into an apartment Tuesday, and while inside, he called the apartment's resident.
Then he stole a DVD player, a 25-inch television, a crystal figurine and a jacket, a Goldsboro police report said.
The resident then called her apartment, but the man was gone, the report said. But a neighbor saw the intruder flee and take the stolen property to another nearby apartment.
The intruder was identified, arrested and charged by police. Dennis Kentail-Lee Kelly, 26, of Airline Place was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. He was released from custody on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
The resident, Leona Boykin, estimated the value of the stolen property at $880. A vase, valued at $20, also was damaged during the break-in.
Drug charges
Four Goldsboro men were arrested before dawn today by Goldsboro police during a traffic stop and charged with multiple felony drug offenses.
Officers seized marijuana and cocaine during the arrest at Leslie and East Mulberry streets.
*Devaris Middleton, who declined to give a home address, was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling marijuana. Middleton, 29, also was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, driving while his license was revoked, reckless driving, discharge of a firearm in the city and two counts of resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
*Dexter Middleton, 23, of South Taylor Street was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling marijuana. Middleton was jailed in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.
*Spencer Ward, 22, of South Taylor Street was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession with intent to sell cocaine and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling marijuana and cocaine. He also was charged with carrying a concealed weapon. His secured bond was set at $25,000.
*Quovaris Kendre Wynn, 24, of North Kornegay Street was charged with possession with intent to sell marijuana, possession with intent to sell cocaine and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling marijuana and cocaine. He was jailed in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
Band gear stolen
A new trailer loaded with more than $18,000 worth of band equipment was stolen between Sunday and Tuesday from Trinity Auto Body Shop at 1001-A N. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro police said.
The band equipment included a drum set, sound equipment, three guitars, a keyboard and other items. The owner, Grady Lee Stowe of Goldsboro, said the 2005 Homesteader trailer was valued at $2,000 and the band equipment was worth about $18,865.
NFL tickets stolen
Four Carolina Panthers football game tickets, $282, law enforcement and fire department certificates, car and mobile home titles, other legal documents and a safe were stolen Tuesday from a home in the 100 block of Holly Springs Road, a Wayne County sheriff's report said.
The thief had kicked in a door to enter the J.R. Lee home, the report said. The stolen property was valued at $682. Damage was set at $300.
Teen charged
A third person was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with two felony crimes in connection with a vehicle break-in.
Shaine Marie Pitsenbarger, 17, of Saulston Road was charged with breaking and entering and larceny. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond. Investigator Dale Foster said she had broken into a car in the 100 block of South Berkeley Boulevard.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office and Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers assisted in the case.
David Jacob Lambert, 18, and Phillip Joseph Goff, 17, both of Daw Pate Road, Pikeville, had been arrested and charged in the crime.
Inmate assault
A 24-year-old prison inmate was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
Caleb Cornelius Green, who was being held at Neuse Correctional Institution at 701 Stevens Mill Road, was accused of hitting and kicking the victim with steel-toed boots, police said. His secured bond was set at $50,000.
The unidentified victim was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, the report said.
Four hurt in wrecks
Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $44,000 in seven recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $6,500 in a two-car crash at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 117 at the Neuse River bridge near Arrington Bridge Road (N.C. 581), the Highway Patrol said. Maquala Deshonne King, 20, and her passenger, Armani King, 6, both of Brenn Loop Drive, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Ms. King was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash. The other driver was identified as George Morris Zimmerman Jr., 61, of Summit Drive.
*Damages were estimated at $9,000 at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 13 near Grantham School Road, the Highway Patrol said. Klistopher Alexander Correa, 20, of Grantham School Road, was charged with a safe-movement violation and no operator's license. The other motorist was listed as James Michael Hargrove, 28, of Hack Drive, Dudley.
*Damage was set at $5,000 at 9:30 p.m. Monday on N.C. 55 near Falling Creek Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. No charges were filed after the car ran off the right side and struck a ditch. The driver was identified as Steven Durant Brewer, 42, of College Circle, Mount Olive.
*A driver was injured at 11:20 p.m. Monday on Memorial Church Road near N.C. 581, the Highway Patrol said. Travis Jimmy Renfrow, 23, of Hales Road, Kenly, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. He was charged with driving left of center. Damage was put at $3,500.
*A car was demolished at 2:20 a.m. Sunday on New Hope Road near Hare Road, the Highway Patrol said. Robert Lee Radford, 29, of Fields Road, Pikeville, was charged with reckless driving after the car ran off the right side and struck a ditch and a culvert. The car was valued at $7,500.
*A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a car at 5:15 p.m. Sunday at U.S. 70 and Beston Road, the Highway Patrol said. Carlyle Earl Waters, 54, of Joy Drive, LaGrange, was released after emergency-room treatment, a hospital spokeswoman said. He also was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign after the bike collided with an eastbound auto driven by Julius Steve Allen Graham, 19, of Capps Bridge Road, Princeton. Damages were estimated at $5,500.
*Damages were estimated at $7,000 in a two-car crash at 1:30 p.m. Saturday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Tommy's Road, the Highway Patrol said. Timothy Daniel Pittman, 19, of Falcon Drive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash. The other driver was listed as Michael Aaron Munden, 41, of U.S. 70 West.
