LaGRANGE -- A 41-year-old man was killed Saturday when his four-wheeler flipped on top of him near Ellington Way, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
The victim was identified as Mark Montague Thompson of 210 Ellington Way, LaGrange.
The report said Thompson and a friend, John Cunningham of Goldsboro, were riding four-wheelers at about 4 p.m. around a pond. Then Thompson tried to climb a hill, and his vehicle flipped over on top of him, the report said.
Cunningham then left to call for help, and emergency medical technicians and Elroy volunteer firefighters responded, deputies said.
Thompson was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Thompson worked at APV Baker in Goldsboro. He has a wife and two children.
