Emmy the search dog helped Wayne County sheriff's officers find two suspected criminals in the bushes. Two others were also charged with the same crime, of breaking into a pawn shop at Mar Mac.

Deputy Charles Schaeffer said he saw three men running behind the Neuse River Gun and Pawn Shop at about 3:10 a.m. He called for backup, then chased the men around the business and found their vehicle behind the nearby Hardee's restaurant. The robbers then ran across U.S. 117 to the BK Mart convenience store.

Deputy William Wells and his search dog, Emmy, tracked two men to a vacant lot at Buckhorn Road and Bryan Boulevard. The two were found hiding in bushes and were taken into custody, he said.

The other two men were arrested later.

Michael Shawn Hunt, 17, and Denton Conway Young, 22, both of Athens Drive, Dudley, and Mario Antwan Cozart, 19, and Elroy Player Jr., 19, both of Georgia Farms Road, Dudley, were charged with felony attempted breaking and entering, felony possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest.

Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $20,000 secured bond.
