A military policeman from South Carolina died on Seymour Johnson Air Force Base on Thursday after his government vehicle hit three parked fighter jets.
It is unknown why the truck hit the planes, and base officials say they are still investigating. The accident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on base.
The base public affairs office released a statement saying Sgt. Anthony Ellison, a military policeman with the South Carolina Army National Guard, was driving a government vehicle when it hit three stationary F-15E Strike Eagles.
Ellison was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. by a physician at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
There was minor damage to the aircraft and major damage to the vehicle. The accident and cause of death are under investigation.
