The Foundation of Wayne Community College will offer a four-week lecture course starting Oct. 5.
Titled "Gods and Idiots: Introducing Homer's Iliad," it will be led by Arts and Humanities Program Director Bill Brettmann. It will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays in Room 206 of the Dogwood Building on campus.
The cost for the course is $20 for individuals and $35 for couples. The textbook, Stanley Lombardo's translation of Homer's "Iliad," may be purchased for $10.95 from the college bookstore.
Beginning in November, Brettmann will teach a mini course on Dante's "Inferno" at the Wayne County Public Library. Time and fee for the Monday evening course will be the same as the "Iliad" course.
The book for the course, "Going to Hell: Rambles with Dante through Inferno," will be the Dorothy Sayers' translation of the "Divine Comedy: Hell," available for $9.60 in the college bookstore.
To register for these courses, call 735-5151, extension 360, and leave a message with the class title, your name and telephone number.
