Bad drug deal
A man says he was buying drugs Monday and three men ordered him from his car and drove it away, a Goldsboro police report said.
John Dewitt Clark, 35, of Lake Ridge Drive told officers that he was making the purchase at about 2 a.m. in the 500 block of East Walnut Street. He described the men only as being black and in their 20s.
The blue, two-door 2002 Chevrolet Camaro was valued at $15,000. Sunglasses and a cell phone also were stolen, police said. They were worth $275.
Bad car deal
A couple says they wired $6,000 through eBay on Sept. 3 to a man in the Czech Republic for a car, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The money was received the next day, but Kristen Lawson of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base says the car was never shipped. All e-mail accounts for the seller also have been closed, the report said.
Rent money gone
A 35-year-old Goldsboro man says he was robbed of his rent money, $200, at South William and Elm streets, Goldsboro police said.
Gregory Fitzgerald Carmon told officers that four men in a small red car with New York plates stopped, took the money and fled. He could not describe the suspects. He said he filed the report so that he could take it to his landlord.
Phone thief
A thief took stole five Kyocera cell phones and two Motorola display phones from Sunshine Wireless at 2339-E U.S. 117 South, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Employees discovered that he had stuffed the boxes for the phones in a toilet tank and a garbage can.
The phones, valued at $967, were stolen between Sunday and Monday.
Sheriff's deputies also are investigating these reports:
*A television, a stereo, two hand drills and a drill press were stolen after a barn door was damaged in the 1100 block of Rosewood Road. The resident and owner, John N. Hales, estimated the value of the stolen property at $950 and damage at $50.
*About $714 worth of tools was stolen from a barn in the 700 block of Vail Road. The resident, Keith Malcolm Vail, reported the theft of a flute meter, hand tools, a three-ton floor jack and an air tank.
Traffic accidents
Seven people were injured and damages were estimated at $75,500 in 12 recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 5:01 p.m. Sunday on Davis Mill Road near Aycock Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. Shanika Shonta Holden, 25, of Davis Mill Road, Fremont, was charged with exceeding a safe speed after her car ran off the right side and overturned. The car was valued at $5,500.
*Damage was estimated at $5,000 in a hit-and-run wreck at 6:05 p.m. Saturday on N.C. 55 near Stanley Chapel Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. A van ran off the left side, struck a driveway culvert and overturned several times. The driver fled. The van was registered to Esteban Martinez of Outlaw Road, Albertson, the report said.
*A driver was injured at 11:27 a.m. Friday at U.S. 117 and Old Mount Olive Road, the Highway Patrol said. Carolyn D. Horton, 57, of Luby Tadlock Road, Calypso, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. William Karl Bartlett, 49, of Colonel Warrick Road, Dudley, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Damages were set at $600.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $8,200 at 9:55 a.m. Friday at N.C. 581 and Pikeville-Princeton Road, the Highway Patrol said. Mary King Redfern, 61, of Banks Avenue was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Calvin Mitchell Sterling, 34, of Pink Hill, was charged with a yield violation.
*A car was demolished at 7:20 p.m. Friday on Dollard Town Road near Ditchbank Road, the Highway Patrol said. Daniel Brooks Thompson, 20, of Wooten Street, Mount Olive, was charged with exceeding a safe speed. Troopers said he had started to pass a tractor-trailer, lost control of the car, struck a ditch and overturned. The car was valued at $9,000.
*A motorist was injured and damages were estimated at $13,500 at 8:10 a.m. Friday at N.C. 581 and Pikeville-Princeton Road, the Highway Patrol said. David Anthony Boykin, 41, of Sims was listed today in stable condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Mitchell Anthony Cooper, 48, of Kinston, was charged with a yield violation.
*A driver was injured at 10:30 a.m. Friday on N.C. 55 near Camp Jubilee Road after he ran off the road, the Highway Patrol said. Ruby Jo Southerland, 49, of Billy Price Road, Seven Springs, was released after emergency-room treatment. Damage was fixed at $200.
*A driver from Goldsboro was injured and damages were estimated at $8,000 at 8 a.m. Thursday on Stoney Creek Church Road near Wayne Memorial Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Woodrow Hall, 58, of Beverly Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. Jennifer Carol Bass, 19, of Wilson, was charged with driving left of center.
*A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a car at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at O'Berry and Massey roads, the Highway Patrol said. James Bynum Herring, 35, of Mills Loop Road, Mount Olive, was released after emergency-room treatment. The car driver, Rudolph Sherlock Holloman, 33, of Massey Road, Dudley, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. Damages were set at $12,000.
*A car was demolished at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday on Camp Jubilee Road near Zion Church Road, the Highway Patrol said. The car ran off the road, struck a ditch and overturned. The driver, Maribel Garcia Moreno, 22, of Camp Jubilee Road, Seven Springs, was not charged. The car was valued at $2,500.
*Damage was estimated at $7,000 at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on Wayne Memorial Drive near Hare Road, the Highway Patrol said. Johanna Marie Gibbs, 18, of Tinderwood Drive was charged with not having an operator's license. The report said the car struck a ditch and overturned.
*A driver was injured and his 25-year-old classic car was demolished at 8:15 a.m. Sept. 12 on Durham Lake Road near Sandhill Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Kenneth Ray Stroud, 39, of Pleasant Pines Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. He said another car had forced him off the road, and his car struck a mail box and a driveway culvert. The car was valued at $4,000.
