Cameron Helms Easley, son of Roger and Lynn Easley of Goldsboro, has received a $1,000 scholarship from the William Harding Scholarship Fund.
He is attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This award was given to Cameron for his outstanding scholarly achievements and exemplary community and church involvement as a member of the Boy Scouts of America.
The award was presented on Aug. 2 to Cameron by trustee Bob Logan at the office of Wayne Realty & Insurance Co.
Cameron received the award in the presence of Will Harding's parents, Robert Harding and Tommie Anne Moore. Also present was Thomas Millison, district executive of the Tuscarora Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
This is the first award since the inception of the scholarship fund, which was established in memory of Will Harding. The fund was created to assist Boy Scouts in pursuing their higher educational endeavors and recognizes members that have benefited from their participation in the scouting program.
The scholarship will be awarded annually and is supported by local contributions to the fund through the Boy Scouts of America.
Contributions can be sent to the William Harding Scholarship Fund at Post Office Box 248, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533-0248.
