The Goldsboro City Council will hold five public hearings at its Monday night board meeting.

*The first hearing is for a request from Eastern Pride Inc. to rezone the north side of Elm Street between George Street and Seaboard Coastline Railroad from office and institutional to central business district.

The zone would permit a variety of commercial uses, including retail sales, and residential development.

*The second hearing is regarding a request from Dogwood Investment Company to rezone the western end of Dogwood Street between Teakwood Drive and Jefferson Street from R-12 residential to R-9 residential.

An R-9 zoning district would permit multi-family residential development at a rate of 9,000 square feet of land area for the first unit and 4,500 square feet of land for each additional unit.

The owner is proposing to subdivide the existing lot into four tracts. Each tract will contain a fourplex apartment.

*The third hearing is to solicit comments about naming a street in Goldsboro. Mr. George C. Jeffreys has requested that the service road running from the West Ash Street Extension in a southerly direction be named Jeffreys Lane. The Jeffreys have had four businesses located on the service road.

*The fourth hearing will allow citizens an opportunity to review the proposed use of Law Enforcement Block Grant funds applied for by the city.

*The fifth hearing concerns proposed sewer improvements for three areas in the city. Under consideration are Spring Street, from Patetown Road to the end of the street; Twin Oaks Place from New Hope Road to the end; and Granville Drive from Fedelon Trail to Beverly Lane.
