5 people injured
in county collisions
Five people were injured and damages were estimated at $23,700 in five recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A Goldsboro police car sustained about $700 in damages in a low-speed crash at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, a police report said. Officer C.A. Melvin, 25, of Goldsboro was backing in the Jeffreys Building parking lot on North John Street and the 2000 Ford patrol car struck a three-foot guard pole. No charges were filed. The pole was not damaged, the report said.
*Two drivers were injured in a two-car collision at 9:45 a.m. Monday at U.S. 13 and Herring Road, the Highway Patrol said. Michelle R. Jackson, 32, of Loop Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Miranda Eve Cutway, 24, of Stevens Church Road left without being treated, a spokeswoman said. Ms. Cutway was charged with a yield violation and improper brakes after failing to stop at a stop sign. Damages were estimated at $4,000.
*A car was demolished in a wreck at 9:45 p.m. Sunday on Camp Jubilee Road near Indian Springs Road, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Dwight Louis Grady, declined medical treatment, but he was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired and driving left of center. The car, valued at $4,000, ran off the left side, struck a ditch and overturned.
*A motorcyclist was injured in a wreck at 7:50 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 117 near O'Berry Road, the Highway Patrol said. Raymond Joseph Jones, 45, of Sleepy Creek Road, Dudley, was released after emergency-room treatment. Jones was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired and not having an operator's license. The motorcycle, valued at $1,500, was demolished.
*Two people were injured and damages were put at $13,500 in a two-car crash at 8:23 a.m. Sept. 7 on N.C. 111 near Mount Airy Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Tiffany Lecrece Mitchell, 29, and a passenger, Jineah O'Neal, 4, both of Cashwell Drive, were released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Mitchell was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end crash. The other driver was listed as Stephen Davis Price, 62, of Indian Creek Road, Seven Springs.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A television, a DVD player and $1,200 were stolen Monday from a home in the 1100 block of Parkstown Road, sheriff's deputies said. The thief had damaged a door to get inside, the report said. A resident, Danny G. Pearce, estimated the value of the stolen property at $360, in addition to the cash. Damage was set at $100. Other property may have been stolen.
*About $150 was stolen between Monday and Tuesday after a door was pried open at Scott Motor Co. at 709 E. Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, Goldsboro police said. The thief also damaged a filing cabinet to get the cash. Damage was put at $450.
*Two cast-iron wash pots, two cast-iron fireplace dogs, five bicycles, an eight-horsepower motor, a gas grill and a hand cart were stolen between Sept. 1 and Tuesday from an open shed in the 1900 block of Victor Place, police said. The resident, James A. Blount, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,520.
*A pressure washer, a weed trimmer, a backpack blower and two power saws were stolen between Friday and Tuesday from an unlocked storage shed in the 100 block of West Vine Street, police said. The property, owned by Goldsboro Psychology, was valued at more than $1,000.
*A green 1994 Ford Explorer was stolen between Monday and Tuesday from Tanglewood Trailer Park in the 3200 block of Central Heights Road, police said. The owner and resident, Ida P. Wemmering, said the vehicle was worth $1,500.
Indecent liberties
A 60-year-old Wayne County man was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with taking indecent liberties with a 2-year-old child.
Roy Lee Allen of Parkstown was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond. Investigator Chad Calloway said the alleged incident occurred Tuesday.
Missing
A 13-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing by relatives to Goldsboro police. DeSean Markus Saunders of 300 Randall Lane was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 217 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.
When he was seen last at 9 p.m. Tuesday, he was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and black and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
