sanitation schedule

Goldsboro city offices will be closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday. All sanitation collection services scheduled for Monday will be collected on Wednesday. Wayne County offices will also be closed.

Over the goal

"Tuesdays With Morrie," a one-act play performed at Wayne Community College, raised more than $13,000 for the Kitty Askins Hospice Center expansion fund -- $3,000 above the $10,000 goal.

The play starred Dr. Ed Hogan and Adam Williams and was directed by Mary Rowland. A public performance was given on Friday night and a performance for Wayne Community College students, faculty and staff was given on Monday night.

Tickets on sale

Tickets are on sale for three upcoming performances.

Admission to the Goldsboro Ballet's "Dance Cornucopia" is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 8 and under. The performance is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 12, at 3 p.m. at Wayne Community College, and tickets can be purchased at the Arts Council of Wayne County.

You can see Center Stage Theatre's production of "Guys and Dolls" at the Paramount Theatre for $12 per adult and $10 per senior citizen and student. Show dates and times are Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 16 through 18, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. Season tickets cost $25 per adult and $20 per senior citizen and student. Tickets are at the Arts Council.

Want to see "The World of Carl Sandburg," a fund-raiser for Stagestruck? The reader's theater, which includes a picnic meal, costs $15 per person. It will be performed Thursday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. at Mount Olive College; Saturday, Sept. 25, at 7 p.m. at Wayne Community College; and Sunday, Sept. 26, at 1 p.m. at the Wayne County Museum. Tickets are available at the Arts Council, the Wayne County Museum and the cashier's desk in the atrium at Wayne Community College.
