Roger and John Davis

This is a common sight, particularly in the southern part of the county, as farmers begin harvesting corn in earnest. On Wednesday, Roger Davis and his son, John, picked 32 acres they farm in Calypso. The land is owned by E.B. Sutton. Roger and John Davis have about 150 acres of corn this year. Bob Pleasants, Wayne County extension agent, said the corn crop looks good and yields should be above average. He said the moisture content is a little high at between 18 and 20 percent, but not too high to pick. He said the ideal moisture content is 15.5 percent.
