A 30-year-old Goldsboro man was gunned down Sunday night, and Goldsboro police have charged a man with the murder.

LaTerance Gooding of 200 Hilda Place was shot during an argument in a parking lot in the 1100 block of North Jefferson Avenue, police said. He was rushed by ambulance to the Wayne Memorial Hospital emergency room, where he was pronounced dead at 9:47 p.m.

B-shift patrol officers responded to a call of shots being fired at 9:17 p.m. and secured the murder scene. Police Investigator Mike Moore and Sgt. David Kelly and SBI Special Agent Barbara Lewis launched an investigation.

About 45 minutes later, Tavaris Kinte Worsley, 27, of North Jefferson Avenue was arrested and charged. He was taken before Magistrate Terry Hatch, who ordered that Worsley be held in the Wayne County Jail without bond.

Neither Moore nor Kelly could be reached for comment today.

Worsley's first court appearance was scheduled for today to determine his legal representation.

Worsley has been charged before with a few misdemeanor offenses, according to Wayne court records.
