Woman burned

Assistant Fire Chief Ray Boyette enters a house at 512 E. Third St. after a fire was extinguished early this morning. Thirteen firemen and two EMS workers responded to the fire at 4:39 a.m., according to the Goldsboro Fire Department. The living room was burned when firemen arrived and a woman was found lying on the floor inside the house. The victim was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital, but the name and condition of the person was not released this morning. The News-Argus learned that the victim may have been airlifted to Duke Medical Center. Boyette said firefighters had the fire quickly under control. Investigation was turned over to the Goldsboro Police Department as a possible crime scene. Estimated loss to the property was $15,000, and the loss to the contents was $1,800.
