Pool accident takes life of toddler

James Smith, 3-year-old son of Alan and Stephanie Smith of Goldsboro, died today after being recovered from a backyard pool at the home of his grandparents Monday afternoon, the News-Argus learned this morning.
The child was visiting at the home of Lester and Janice Whittaker in the Stone's Throw subdivision across from Eastern Wayne High School on Monday afternoon when the accident occurred.
He died at Pitt Memorial Hospital.
