Woman assaulted,
has two collisions
A woman's former boyfriend collided with her car Thursday, then later broke into her car, assaulted her, causing her to drive into a parked car, and stole her jewelry, Goldsboro police reports said.
Nikita Quachell Seaberry, 18, of Brenn Loop Drive reported that she saw the man in his car on Wayne Avenue. The man then turned around, followed her for about 30 minutes, then sped in front of her and tried to block her path on Bunche Drive, police said.
The cars collided at about 4:30 p.m., each sustaining about $200 in damages. When police investigated the crash, the man had fled. The other driver was identified in the police report as Demarkco Briggs, 19, of Olivia Lane.
Ms. Seaberry then used her cell phone to call her mother and was told to come to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where the mother worked. About a half-hour later, Briggs smashed a back window in Ms. Seaberry's car, unlocked the door, got inside and assaulted the young woman.
Ms. Seaberry told police that her foot was still on the gas, she could not see where she was going and her car collided with a parked car in the hospital parking lot. The woman's car sustained about $400 in damages. The other car, registered to Robert B. Dunmire III of Mill Road, also had about $400 in damages.
Both Ms. Seaberry and Briggs then got out of her car, and the man snatched her jewelry, continued the assault and fled. The bracelet and other jewelry was valued at $580.
Charges are pending against Briggs, said to be the father of Ms. Seaberry's unborn child. No charges were filed against Ms. Seaberry in the collisions.
Officer promoted
Officer Jeff Clifford was promoted today to police evidence technician, Goldsboro Police Chief Tim Bell announced.
Clifford, who was hired Jan. 28, 1998, as a patrol officer, replaced Linda M. Keesler, who had resigned. Clifford's hiring filled the lone vacancy in the three-person identifications section.
Teen charged
A Dudley resident, seeing a teen-ager trying to remove the compact disc player from his car before dawn today, took matters into his own hands, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
Bobby James Williams Jr. of Nancy Drive told deputies that he had fired two rifle shots in the air and the suspect fled in a small red car.
Nine minutes later, Deputy J.L. Hill found the car and returned the suspect to the scene to be identified. Hill then arrested Tiszon Olajuwon Evans, 18, of U.S. 13 South and charged him with felony breaking and entering of a vehicle.
Evans was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
Woman robbed
A woman was robbed Thursday night when she stopped to buy items from a street vendor in the 600 block of Poplar Street, a Goldsboro police report said.
Tawanda Seaberry, 27, of Dudley told police that she had stopped at about 9:45 p.m. to buy wash cloths. Then a black man approached her and demanded her money.
When Ms. Seaberry said she had no money, the suspect reached in her car, grabbed her wallet and ran away, police said. The robber was described as 6-feet-1 and 130 pounds with a slim build, and he wore a white shirt and blue jeans.
Break-in for $3
A thief smashed a window Thursday in order to break into a home in the 300 block of East Beech Street and steal $2 and two sodas, a Goldsboro police report said. The resident, S.K. Cox, estimated damage at $20. The sodas were valued at $1.
Police also are investigating these reports:
*An orange Kubota tractor with a front end loader and a box blade was stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from the 2500 block of North William Street, police said. The owner, Dewayne Wilber Price of Seven Springs, said the tractor was worth $16,000.
*Assorted hand tools, power tools and air tools were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from Fleet Wash Co. at 1600 N. George St., police said. Pradora R. White of Goldsboro put a $10,000 value on his tools.
*A thief smashed the drive-through window at Mary's Drive In at 612 W. Ash St. between Thursday and dawn today and stole an undetermined amount of money from a cash drawer, police said. The amount of damage was not listed.
*A white, four-door 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity was stolen Thursday from the 300 block of Courtyard Circle, police said. The resident, Cheree Maria Booker, said her car was worth $200. The car was later involved in a hit-and-run wreck, police said.
Tools stolen
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Construction tools, with a value of $1,405, were stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from a locked trailer in the 100 block of Kelly Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, David William Kierski, said three saws, a cordless drill set and five air guns were stolen.
*A black Yardman riding law mower with an 18.5-horsepower engine and a 48-inch cut was stolen between Wednesday and Thursday from the 200 block of East Raintree Lane, deputies said. The owner and resident, M.C. Leeper, put a $2,000 value on it.
2 drivers charged
Both drivers were charged after a two-vehicle collision at 11:04 a.m. Thursday at East Ash Street and Oak Forest Road, Goldsboro police said.
Joshua Jeffrey Crawford, 19, of U.S. 13 South, LaGrange, was charged with a stoplight violation. Damion M. Yates, 21, of Ashtabula, Ohio, was charged with a yield violation and not having liability insurance.
Police said Crawford's southbound sport utility vehicle collided with the oncoming, northbound car driven by Yates, who was starting a left turn. Damages were set at $2,700.
Missing
A 13-year-old girl was reported missing Thursday night by her mother to Goldsboro police. Delescia Brunson of 207-H Alpha Court was described as black, 5-feet-6 and 90 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion.
When she was seen last at 11:30 p.m., she was wearing a brown shirt and blue jeans. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
