Teen stabs brother
A 17-year-old boy was stabbed Tuesday by his 14-year-old brother during a fight in their home in the 400 block of Hazelwood Drive, a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report said.
Justin Pate was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a stab wound to the chest. He was listed today in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The assailant, Jeremy Pate, also was injured but was not hospitalized. He has not been charged, but the stabbing remained under investigation, detectives said.
Drug charges
Six people were arrested Tuesday by authorities and charged with felony drug offenses.
Three were arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad at an apartment in the 200 block of Mercer Street.
*The residents, Chester Lee Peacock, 52, and Linda Faye Lamm, 39, were charged with possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $7,000 secured bond.
*Antonio Maurice Peacock, 27, of Summer Winds Drive was charged with possession with intent to sell cocaine. He also was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was jailed in lieu of a $1 million secured bond.
Meanwhile, a man who had been released from Wayne Memorial Hospital after recovering from wounds in a shooting was charged by Goldsboro police with possession with intent to sell cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Roderick Demetrius Blount, 21, of Olivia Lane was jailed in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond. He was wounded July 18 on Courtyard Circle.
Two Goldsboro residents who did not disclose home addresses were arrested by police at South Slocumb and Chestnut streets.
*James Faron Cooke, 47, was charged with possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was jailed in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
*Lanelle Hill Moore, 43, was charged with felony possession of two unspecified controlled substances. She was jailed in lieu of a $2,000 secured bond.
Sports cards stolen
An estimated $10,000 worth of basketball cards and $1,030 worth of entertainment equipment were stolen Tuesday from a home in the 700 block of Marigold Street, a Goldsboro police report said.
The thief had broken a door glass to get in the home of two airmen stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, police said.
Mitchell Lawhorn reported the theft of the basketball cards, eight DVD movies, 30 music compact discs, a DVD player and a cell phone. The movies, CDs, player and phone were valued at more than $690.
Bobbi J. Wiens also reported the larceny of 12 DVD movies and a radio-tape-CD-player combination, valued at $340.
Two charged
Two men from Dudley have been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with three felony offenses in connection with a restaurant break-in.
Jasper Wayne Joyner, 24, and Jonathan Lee Reeves, 23, both of Mobile Circle, were charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods. Joyner was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of an $11,000 secured bond. Reeves was jailed in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
Joyner and Reeves were accused of breaking into Brooklyn Pizzeria at U.S. 117 South in Mar Mac on July 15 and stealing about $250 from a tip jar, Detective Sgt. Shawn Harris said.
Photos of the two men were published in Friday's News-Argus. Harris said information from anonymous callers assisted in the arrests.
Another man had been arrested and charged in the case.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A tool box with tools, a hot dog warmer and a weed trimmer were stolen after a lock to a storage building was damaged at Aggie's Steaks and Subs at 212 W. Ash St., Goldsboro police said. The stolen property was valued at $1,029.
*A cash register, a vending machine, a juke box and a video-game machine were damaged during a break-in at Eastern Carolina Athletic Park at 871 Buck Swamp Road, deputies said.
