A Wayne County sheriff deputy and a North Carolina Highway Patrol officer at the scene of a two-car wreck at N.C. 111 South and Ditchbank Road. Five people were injured and both vehicles were demolished, the Highway Patrol said. The drivers, Jose Adan Lugo Sanchez, 28, of Deer Meadow Drive and Gasper Francisco Martin, 21, of Cleveland Drive, Mount Olive, and MartinÍs passengers, Rosa Garcia, 25, Velia Lopez, 19, and Rina Vasquez, 19, all of Sandspur Drive, Mount Olive, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Lugo Sanchez was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. Damages were set at $13,350.
