Matthew Sellers

Matthew Edward Sellers graduated from Navy Basic Training in Great Lakes, Ill.

After completing technical training at NAS Pensacola in Pensacola, Fla.,, he will be stationed aboard the USS Enterprise homeported in Norfolk, Va.

Sellers is a 2004 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and is the son of Don and Donna Garner of Dudley.

Nichole Gibson

Army Pvt. Nichole T. Gibson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and other military-related subjects.

She is the daughter of Barbara Boyd of Pikeville and John Medlock of Texas and is a 2002 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School.

David Dixon

Army Pvt. David E. Dixon has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition, and other related subjects and participated in physical fitness classes and field training exercises.

He is the son of Debbie Holbert of Mount Olive and is a 2001 graduate of 2001 graduate of Southern Wayne High School.

Maureceia Autry

Maureceia A. Autry has been awarded an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) college scholarship.

She was selected on the basis of comprehensive tests scores, high school scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement.

The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, textbooks, laboratory and incidental fees, and will include a non-taxable monthly stipend during the school year.

Upon graduating from college and completing the ROTC program, the cadet will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

She is the daughter of Maurice A. Autry of Goldsboro and is a 2004 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School.

Emily Grigsby

Emily R. Grigsby has been awarded an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) college scholarship.

The cadet was selected on the basis of comprehensive tests scores, high school scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement. The scholarship will cover the cost of tuition, textbooks, laboratory and incidental fees, and a non-taxable monthly stipend during the school year.

Upon graduating from college and completing the ROTC program, she will be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force.

She is the daughter of retired Air Force Lt. Col. James H. and Nancy W. Grigsby of Goldsboro and is a 2004 graduate of Wayne County Day School.

Eric Mitchell

Air Force Airman 1st Class Eric L. Mitchell has arrived for duty at Minot Air Force Base, N.D.

He is a missile maintenance technician assigned to the 91st Maintenance Operations Squadron.

The son of Robin Winegardner of Goldsboro and Mark Winegardner of Las Vegas, Nev., he is a 2003 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School, Pikeville..

Lesley Robinson

Army National Guard Pfc. Lesley L. Robinson has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills. She also participated in foot marches, and field training exercises.

The daughter of Barbara Robinson of Pink Hill, she is a 2004 graduate of East Duplin High School in Kenansville.

Patrick Minott

Army Pfc. Patrick L. Minott has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

During the eight weeks of training, the soldier received training in military-related subjects and the development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations.

He is the son of Mary Alexander of Warsaw and is a 2003 graduate of James Kenan High School, Warsaw.

Kaitlin Thomas

Kaitlin S. Thomas has been awarded an Air Force ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) college scholarship. The cadet was selected on the basis of comprehensive tests scores, high school scholastic achievement, school officials' evaluations, extra-curricular activities, and community involvement.

Thomas Penner

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Thomas C. Penner has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.

He also earned credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air

Force.

He is the son of John and Emma Penner Goldsboro.
