Mount Olive writer wins award

Ada Batten of Mount Olive has won a $100 award for her story, "The Bath, the Snake and the Streak." The story will appear in the book, "Crank Victrolas and Wood Cook Stoves," a collection of histories of Wayne, Lenoir, Greene and Pitt counties. This is the first time Mrs. Batten has been published.
