A Goldsboro psychologist riding his motorcycle was injured in a collision with a car Friday at N.C. 581 and Rosewood Road, the Highway Patrol said.
Kurt A. Luedtke, 56, of Wackena Point was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, stabilized and then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. His condition could not be learned today.
State troopers said Luedtke was turning left from Rosewood Road at about 1:15 p.m. and the motorcycle collided with a westbound car driven by Angela Rachelle Bryant, 18, of Old Smithfield Road, Princeton. Charges are pending, troopers said.
The car that Ms. Bryant was driving and Luedtke's bike were demolished. They were valued at $12,000.
Luedke is a retired Air Force officer.
Another motorist was injured in a one-car wreck at 5:40 a.m. Sunday on N.C. 111 near Cedar Creek Drive, the Highway Patrol said.
Phillip White, 19, of Antioch Road was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. He also was charged with reckless driving after the southbound auto that he was driving crossed the center line and struck a ditch. The car, valued at $2,000, was demolished.
Robberies
Two men robbed a convenience store clerk of an unknown amount of money and property before dawn Sunday, a Goldsboro police report said.
The clerk at The Pantry No. 919 at 1601 E. Ash St. told officers that two men entered the store at 3:15 a.m., displayed a silver handgun and demanded money. They grabbed the cash and other items and fled north on Jefferson Avenue.
The robbers were described as being black, in their 20s with slim builds. One wore a black and white scarf and blue and white pants.
Meanwhile, a teen-ager walking at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Holly Street was robbed of about $70, police said.
Robert Collard, 17, of Goldsboro reported that a black teen-ager asked to see the chain on his wallet. When Collard pulled the wallet from his pocket, the robber snatched it and fled.
Counterfeit CDs
A 45-year-old man was arrested Saturday by Goldsboro police and charged with having 2,461 counterfeit compact discs.
Bobby McLamb of Hyattsville, Md., was charged with the unlawful possession of recorded devises for sale without the manufacturer's consent and possession of recorded devices without the name and address of the manufacturer being cleared and conspicuously displayed.
McLamb also was charged with felony possession of marijuana in a prison and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $110,000 secured bond.
McLamb was arrested after officers on Capt. J.D. Cogdell's shift conducted a foot patrol in Lincoln Homes.
Weapons charge
A Goldsboro teen-ager has been arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with discharge of a weapon into occupied property.
Kevin Buffalo Jr., 16, of Vanderbilt Circle was accused of firing the weapon June 19 into a home on Astor Court. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond on the felony offense.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $80 was stolen between 3:25 a.m. and 4 a.m. Sunday after a door glass was smashed at Genoa Mart at 659 Genoa Road, sheriff's deputies said. Damage was set at $200.
*A telephone box and an outside door were damaged and then checks were stolen Sunday from a home in the 1300 block of Ditchbank Road, deputies said. The resident, Seana Rae Padilla Fox, put a $12 value on the checks and estimated damage at $600.
*A Honda dirt bike was stolen between Tuesday and Sunday from the 100 block of Susan Drive, deputies said. The bike, valued at $1,500, is owned by Jonathan Holland.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*An SKS rifle and $15 were stolen between Sunday and dawn today after a window was smashed at Creative Cuts at 715 N. George St., police said. The rifle was valued at $300, and damage was put at $700.
*A thief smashed a door and damaged a cash register between Saturday and Sunday at United Artists Cinema at 301 N. Berkeley Blvd., police said. Nothing was stolen. Damages were set at $5,000.
*A cell phone and a clock radio were stolen Sunday after a glass door was damaged at an apartment in the 1400 block of North Berkeley Boulevard, police said. The resident, Jessica Buck, estimated the property's value at $225 and damage at $400.
*A thirsty thief stole 12 cans of soda, three cans of beer and $100 between Saturday and Sunday after breaking a window at a home in the 100 block of Banks Avenue, police said. The resident, Billy R. Stokes, put a $9 value on the drinks and set damage at $50.
Barn fire
A hay barn at 1961 New Hope Road was damaged Saturday by a a fire caused by a lightning strike, a fire official said.
New Hope Volunteer Fire Chief Bud Gray said a passerby saw the fire and called the resident, Donald C. Best. If it had not had been for the call, "the barn would have burned totally," Gray said.
Damage was estimated at $1,000 to the barn and $500 to contents, Gray said.
Fourteen New Hope volunteers answered the 1 a.m. call with four trucks. Elroy offered mutual aid.
