KENANSVILLE -- Scotty Summerlin, the assistant director of economic development in Duplin County, has resigned.
Economic Development Director Woody Brinson said the assistant director's position was eliminated in the upcoming 2004-2005 budget, and Summerlin was being reassigned as director of the WestPark Business Technology Center near Warsaw when he resigned. His last day was Friday.
Brinson asked that those who wish to reach him leave a message if he doesn't answer the telephone at the Economic Development Commission office. The EDC office hasn't had a secretary since December. The office number is 800-755-17555.
He said the office is scheduled to get a secretary position back in the upcoming budget, but it will probably be a while before the county can go through the hiring process and get someone on board.
