Busco Beach accident takes life of man, 19

A young Hispanic farm worker who could not swim drowned Sunday at Busco Beach, officials said today.
The victim, Eli Morales Lopez, 19, of Cabin Creek Drive, Seven Springs, stepped into a deep hole and panicked, a Wayne County sheriff's report said.
Lopez was pulled from the water and rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was admitted to the intensive care unit, but he died early today.
He was the second Hispanic man to drown at Busco Beach in the last four years. Mauro Zamora-Vasquez of Goldsboro died June 25, 2000.
Busco Beach is a small lake and recreation area at the end of Bryan Boulevard at Mar Mac.
