Tri-County Electric Membership Corp. employees have presented 35 local high school seniors with scholarships totaling $17,000.
The Tri-County Employee-Funded Scholarship Program began in the fall of 2000. Employees began selling cookbooks, which were originally published to be distributed for the 60th anniversary of the cooperative.
Since that time, the employees have sold over 9,700 books with all proceeds going to the scholarship fund. Additional funds have been raised through the sale of candy in the corporate headquarters and a drawing for a Honda generator.
