Wayne riders raise $800 for Ronald McDonald House

in Greenville

A group of motorcycle riders has raised $800 for the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville.

Kristy Gwaltney of Goldsboro organized the event held on June 19 at the Target store in Goldsboro. The group of about 60 motorcycle riders met in the store parking lot. Goldsboro police escorted the group as it traveled through the city from Berkeley Boulevard to Ash Street and then William Street. The group continued to Fremont, where the police blocked off a street. The ride ended at Double D's Bar and Grill in Fremont, where the riders were treated to barbecue.

Ms. Gwaltney said the Ronald McDonald House is a great help to families of children who have to go to the hospital. She said the house accepts parents for a $10 donation. If the parents can't afford it, they stay free.
