Payment schedule for attorney on agenda

The Goldsboro City Council will decide Monday on a payment schedule for the city's new attorney.
City Attorney Harrell Everett announced June 7 that he would be stepping down from his position at the end of this month.
Everett has served as city attorney since 1974. Other legal services for the city have been provided by lawyers in Everett's firm.
The council is considering hiring Timothy Finan, one of Everett's law partners, as the city's new lawyer.
Finan's services, as well as other members of the law firm, would be billed at the current rate of $90 per hour. The hourly rate for paralegal and staff support services will remain at $45 per hour.
Under the agreement, the city would continue to pay for continued education in the North Carolina Association of Municipal Attorneys and in the International Municipal Lawyers Association.
Public Hearings
*The council will consider a request for a special use permit from Kathy Woodard for the north side of East Ash Street between Piedmont Airline Road and Oak Forest. The special use permit is to put an office in a residential zone.
*The council will consider a request for a noncontiguous annexation request from Friendswood, LLC Property for 1. 7 acres on the southeast corner of U.S. 70 West and Martin Road.
*The council will consider a request for a contiguous annexation request from United Entertainment Co. for 8 acres on the northeast side of Tenth Place between Norwood Avenue and Englewood Drive. The property is the future site of a movie theater.
Site plans
*The council will review site and landscape plans for Laurel Pointe II. The subdivision is on the south side of New Hope Road between Ervin Drive and Bear Creek Road.
Laurel Pointe I was approved by the council in 2000. The development will have six buildings with 48 units.
*The council will review a site plan revision from Wayne Memorial Hospital for the addition of a modular office building.
Resolutions
The council will consider passing two resolutions expressing appreciation for the service of Councilman William Goodman and retiring City Attorney Harrell Everett.
